The Human Development Unit at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Fine Arts, organized a scientific workshop to discuss the phenomenon of economic violence against women.
The Director of the Human Development Unit at the University, Dr. Abdul Karim Zayer Al-Mawzani, in his lecture he presented at the workshop, explained the types of violence, both psychological and physical, and the most important factors that contribute to the spread of this phenomenon.
Al-Mawazni continued that male social education and tribal customs had a major role in negating the role of women in society, as these customs force women to submit to the authority of men, and among the phenomena that have begun to spread in our society is the phenomenon of receiving loans in the name of the wife to the tyrannical husband, or not demanding and giving up inheritance.
